LIBERIA WON RIW SOCCER TOURNEMENT 3RD EDITION

In the heart of Seatac, an amazing opportunity unfolded as the 2023 Refugees and Immigrant Week Soccer Tournament found its rightful home. The city, with its vibrant spirit and welcoming embrace, became the perfect backdrop for an event that would leave an indelible mark on the community. Thistournament was not just a game; it was a transformative force that created an unparalleled sense of belonging and unity,

impacting the lives of over 300 young men in our community. The significance of this program cannot be overstated; it must be nurtured and sustained at all costs. Before the tournament's grand kickoff, a pivotal

moment occurred as we presented our vision, anticipated impact, and logistical requirementsto the esteemed city and county officials. Their response was nothing short of remarkable – aresounding affirmation of support and a pledge of their time and efforts to ensure the event's resounding success.

The soccer tournament commenced in a blaze of excitement with our inaugural parade, a procession that showcased the finest aspects of our community. The Congolese Integration Network Youth, Early Learning, and Health board departments took the lead, each department proudly represented by their dedicated staff members.

 

 

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of none other than the esteemed 5th district King County Council member, David Upthegrove, who did the honors of cutting the ribbon. In a gracious display of solidarity, Seatac's Mayor, Jake Simpson, joined us in celebrating this momentous occasion. Mayor

Simpson not only attended the grand finale but also took the time to congratulate the victorious Lybaria team and delivered a heartfelt closing speech. This tournament was more than just a sports event; it was a testament to the power of diversity and the unifying force of sports. It showcased the extraordinary talent, passion, and determination of our community, underscoring the profound sense of belonging and camaraderie that soccer has fostered among our young men. The success of this tournament was a testament to the spirit of unity and resilience that defines our community, and it is a legacy that must endure for generations to come.
