A Haven of Peace and Support for Refugees and Immigrants: The Congolese Integration Network Receives Remarkable Support

The Congolese Integration Network (CIN) expressed gratitude for the support received from SeaTac city officials and Senator Karen Keiser, who have pledged their support for the organization's first Refugee Welcoming and Healing Center. This project, initiated in 2019, has been funded by the state and congress and is designed to serve as a safe haven for refugees and immigrants, offering housing, culturally competent case management, and support services tailored to their needs. The center aims to provide a welcoming space where individuals can receive the care and resources they deserve.

The Refugee Welcoming and Healing Center will offer a variety of services, including housing, daycare, event space, computer lab/ESL classes, food-garden/clothing, and sports facilities. These services are intended to address critical issues such as homelessness, mental health, access to vital resources, and building strong community and family relations. The center will also serve as a hub for cultural exchange, learning, and collaboration, fostering inclusivity and community connections.

CIN has been serving the community since 2016, providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services to support the integration of Congolese immigrants and refugees in King County. The organization has evolved to include support for immigrants and refugees from other nations, broadening its mission to create a safe and nurturing environment where healing, community building, and holistic support converge.

The organization is currently raising funds to support the center, with a goal of $100,000. They have received support from various officials and organizations, including Congressman Adam Smith, SeaTac Council-member Jake Simpson, 4Culture, Senator Karen Keiser, Representative Mia Gregerson, and Associate Vice President Jean D'arc Campbell.

CIN has been actively involved in the community, organizing numerous events, site tours, listening sessions, and fundraising activities to support their mission and projects. They have also published reports, including an Executive Summary and Listening Sessions Report and Community Recommendations, to share insights and progress.

The organization is committed to equal opportunity and non-discrimination, adhering to federal, state, and local laws that prohibit discrimination based on race, color, national origin, heritage, religion, sex, age, veteran status, socioeconomic status, and disabilities. They welcome all persons and families within or outside of the community they serve, and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, nationality, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, or disability.
